A study meeting on proposed Shikoku shinkansen development has been postponed because of the typhoon’s effects, Matsuyama announced on October 23. The third meeting had been scheduled for October 26 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in Matsuyama.
The city says it will announce a new date once one is decided. The original plan brought together around 30 officials and others from Matsuyama, Takamatsu, Tokushima and Kochi, the four prefectural capitals of Shikoku.
The meetings are intended to help municipal staff learn about high-speed rail and share information. Former Toyama mayor Masashi Mori, who worked on development around Toyama Station during the Hokuriku shinkansen extension, had been invited to discuss urban and transport policy. This is a postponement of that administrative learning session; the announcement concerns neither a railway-service timetable nor approval to build a new line.
