Gunma is using home-cooking recipes to introduce its agricultural products through social media and a cooking magazine. An October 19 announcement describes contributions by recipe creators RINATY and AKIHO, alongside work with cook Maki Watanabe.
The prefectural agriculture department’s Instagram account is scheduled to post one recipe a month from August through December, using recipes devised by either of the two influencers. The announcement lists earlier posts using local sweetcorn and Joshu chicken, and blueberries; it does not announce those earlier posts as new October recipes.
The project aims to increase recognition of Gunma-grown ingredients by presenting ways to use them in everyday meals. Other planned ingredients include Ginhikari fish, aubergines, yamatoimo yam, maitake and shiitake mushrooms, though the list may change. Watanabe’s contribution appeared in the issue of Orange Page released on October 16. Recipes are also planned for introduction on TOKYO FM’s Blue Ocean programme.
