Matsuyama will accept its third round of applications for aid to demolish dangerous vacant homes from November 2 to 30, 2026. The round has a budget of ¥20 million. If applications exceed that amount, the city will prioritize buildings with more severe structural decay or damage rather than accept them in arrival order.
The scheme covers four-fifths of eligible costs, capped at ¥1 million, or ¥1.6 million in island areas. The city’s definition includes homes unused for at least a year that meet specified location and deterioration criteria; ordinary vacant homes do not automatically qualify. Applicants must receive the grant decision before signing a demolition contract. The city lists further ownership, tax and construction requirements on its application page.
