Nara Prefecture’s October 28 notice highlights the autumn exhibition on horses and horse equipment, running October 3–November 29. It brings together repaired B and C sets of horse fittings from Fujinoki Kofun and introduces conservation-science work alongside the objects.
The burial mound is in Ikaruga and yielded horse equipment and other grave goods. The exhibition concerns the repair project as well as the horse-related material, offering a view of how finds are preserved. Listed hours are 9 a.m.–5 p.m., with entry until 4:30 p.m. Mondays are generally closed; November 23 is an exception, followed by closure the next day.
Local perspective
Seeing conservation work alongside repaired objects can shift attention from an ancient treasure’s appearance to the decisions needed to keep it available for study. For visitors interested in Japanese archaeology, that adds a process to examine, beyond recognising famous finds. It does not establish an increase in tourist numbers or remove the need to check museum access details.
