The Kyoto Tamba urban-greening fair committee’s October 30 report looks back at food, farming and arts activities held during October. The overall fair spans Kameoka, Nantan and Kyotamba from September 18 to November 8. The events described below have already finished and should not be treated as coming-weekend invitations.

A Kyotamba market on October 18 had thirty-six food or activity booths. A separate October 24–25 gathering moved indoors because of rain, hosting twelve food stalls and eight upcycling workshop booths. Activities included objects made with wood offcuts and reused milk cartons. The fair uses five main locations to connect food production, environmental themes and art within the wider area.

Local perspective

Placing food stalls beside making activities connects what a region produces with how people handle materials after use. The rain-driven move also shows that the experience depended on practical venue decisions, not scenery alone. These examples explain the fair’s approach without proving lasting producer income gains or growth in tourism spending.
