Forty-six fourth-grade pupils at Nagaoka No. 10 Elementary School in Nagaokakyo will take part in a wheelchair basketball class on October 27, 2026. Former Japan representative Yasuko Sakane will lead the session from 10:35 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

Sakane represented Japan at the 2004 Athens Paralympics. The class is organised through Kyoto Prefecture’s sports programme that sends athletes with ties to Kyoto to teach at schools and community sports clubs.

The programme is intended to give children dreams and aspirations through sport. The announcement describes a class for the school’s fourth-year pupils; it does not offer public registration.
