Aichi Prefecture says information about 18 employees at a childcare facility in Obu was accidentally made publicly viewable in an attachment on the Kokode Search childcare information system. The file included names and pay information and was online from July 6 to October 16, 2026.
The prefecture says it learned of the problem at about 4:30 p.m. on October 16 and stopped publication of the facility’s information about ten minutes later. It also hid attachment files for all facilities in the prefecture. A review of attachments registered by 199 facilities found no other personal-information exposures by October 20.
The system publishes childcare facilities’ operating and financial information after municipal checks and prefectural approval. Aichi says the facility attached the wrong file and both review stages failed to detect the personal data. It plans stronger double checks and says no secondary harm had been confirmed at the time of the announcement.
