A free Christmas-decoration workshop in Minamata, Kumamoto Prefecture, will use pine cones and other natural materials on November 23, 2026. The session at the Kumamoto Prefectural Environmental Centre runs from 10 a.m. to noon and includes learning about trees and forests.
Applications through the form linked in the prefecture’s announcement close on November 9. About 30 places are available, with a lottery if oversubscribed. Only successful applicants will be notified, by email or another method, around seven days before the event.
The centre opened in Minamata in August 1993 as a hub for environmental information and learning. Its activities include nature observation and hands-on making to help visitors understand environmental issues.
水俣の環境センターで11月23日にクリスマス飾り作り
熊本県環境センター（水俣市）で、2026年11月23日10時～正午に、松ぼっくりなどの自然素材でクリスマス飾りを作る無料の催しが開かれる。木や森について学ぶ内容もある。定員は約30人で、11月9日までに県の案内ページにあるフォームから応募する。応募多数の場合は抽選となり、当選者だけに開催の約7日前までにメールなどで知らせる。同センターは環境情報・学習の拠点として1993年8月に水俣市で開館し、自然観察やものづくりによる体験学習を行っている。
