Visitors with young children at Lake Biwa Museum now have two additional private spaces for feeding, changing clothes and changing nappies, according to an October 23 announcement by Shiga Prefecture. The mobile baby-care units are beside the second-floor B exhibition room and at the first-floor aquarium exhibition entrance.

The museum already has a nursing room near its entrance; the new units extend baby-care facilities to other parts of the building. They are Trim’s mamaro units, with a light beside the sliding door indicating use and an electrical outlet that can be used for an electric breast pump.

The museum asks visitors to take used nappies and other rubbish away because bins are not provided. As the units are mobile, their locations may change. One of the two was donated through the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums with support from the Japan Lottery Association.
