Susaki’s town-centre revitalisation council plans a morning event on November 15, from 7 to 11 a.m., along Nichiyoichi-dori between Nishifuruichi and Higashifuruichi. Punctual, the employer of the local revitalisation team member who devised it, announced the plans on October 29. Light rain will not cancel the event, but severe weather will.

More than ten stalls are planned for a breakfast market, with food starting at 500 yen. The existing Sunday market has run for more than 60 years along roughly 150 metres of Furuichi-dori, selling vegetables, fruit and household goods. The organiser wants the new programme to continue beyond one day; that remains an intention.

Local perspective

A short morning programme can give visitors a practical encounter with an ordinary shopping street, rather than requiring a full-day festival itinerary. Breakfast stalls connect that visit with an existing market. Whether the event reverses the reported decline in stallholders will require evidence from subsequent markets.
