Restaurants and retailers can apply until December 31 to join Chiba Prefecture’s Boso Gibier Fair, which will run from January 22 to February 28, 2027.
Boso gibier means wild boar and deer caught in Chiba and properly processed at meat-processing facilities within the prefecture. The fair aims to increase consumption of this locally sourced game through dishes and food products sold by participating businesses.
Hotels, food trucks, roadside stations and other outlets are among those eligible. Participants must offer qualifying dishes or products for at least 10 days during the fair, use meat supplied by facilities handling Boso gibier, follow the prefecture’s hygiene guidelines and publicise the event.
There is no participation fee, but businesses pay their own ingredient, application and independent promotional costs. Applications go through the dedicated Boso gibier website. A customer prize draw is also planned; the rules require participating outlets to provide entry information to customers who spend at least 1,000 yen on qualifying dishes or products.
