Aichi Prefecture announced October 30 that ten breweries will take part in its tasting-and-sales booth at the Sakaya Kakuuchi festival in Tokyo’s Ueno Park. The booth is scheduled for November 6–8: 11 a.m.–8 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.–8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

The exhibition belongs to a prefectural programme promoting Aichi-made drinks to metropolitan consumers and overseas visitors. The prefecture asks visitors to use public transport to prevent drink-driving and notes that drinking by people under twenty is prohibited.

Local perspective

Bringing several breweries to one Tokyo venue lets visitors encounter a producing region without building a separate brewery itinerary. The useful comparison is between producers, rather than treating a prefecture’s drinks as one uniform product. This is a sales-channel initiative; its announcement provides no measured export gains or increase in brewery tourism.
