Human joint reported on October 29 that it donated about 100 kilograms of rice to Fukushima City at an October 28 ceremony. The rice was grown by partner producer Kato Farm. Company employees and four Fukushima United FC players had joined a harvest experience on October 7. The club and company are cooperating on the project.

Distribution to local children’s community meal programmes is planned sequentially from mid-November through Fukushima City Kodomo Shokudo NET, operated by Beans Fukushima. The ceremony therefore does not mean the rice has already reached every recipient. Individual destination meal programmes were not named. The company says it intends to link future seasonal farming activities with further food donations.

Local perspective

Connecting a farm visit, a football club and a city distribution network makes local agriculture visible beyond the sale of a crop. It offers readers a concrete example of the relationships behind community food support. The planned delivery timetable still separates participation in harvesting from a completed benefit to meal-programme users.
