Visitors to Aeon Mall Miyazaki can see a display tracing six decades of exchanges between Miyazaki and Kashihara in Nara Prefecture. The exhibition runs from October 23 to November 1 at two bridge sections of the second-floor passageway, in front of Shimamura Music and TOKYO Shirts.
The cities reached the 60th anniversary of their sister-city agreement on February 11, 2026. Exchanges have included meetings between primary- and junior-high-school students, visits to each other’s events, tourism promotion, technical exchanges among young farmers and fairs introducing local products.
Miyazaki City’s explanation connects the relationship to the legend of Emperor Jimmu’s journey from Miyazaki to Kashihara. Following an approach from Kashihara, the cities signed their agreement in 1966. The exhibition looks back at the exchanges developed since that agreement.
宮崎市・橿原市の姉妹都市60周年 イオンモール宮崎で11月1日までパネル展
宮崎市と奈良県橿原市の姉妹都市交流60周年を記念するパネル展が、10月23日～11月1日、イオンモール宮崎2階通路のブリッジ部分で開かれている。場所は島村楽器前とTOKYOシャツ前の2か所。両市は2026年2月11日に盟約締結60周年を迎え、小中学生の交歓、行事への相互訪問や観光PR、青年農業者の技術交換、特産品を紹介する物産展などを続けてきた。宮崎市の説明は、両市の縁を神武天皇が宮崎から橿原へ向かったと伝わる伝説に結び付けている。橿原市の申し入れを受け、1966年に盟約を締結した。展示ではその後の交流の歩みを振り返る。
