A temporary aid station will use hydrogen-generated electricity during Shiga’s disaster drill on October 25. The trial is scheduled for 9:15–10:45 a.m. at the Koka regional fire authority’s outdoor training ground.
A towable generator and compact hydrogen-storage tanks will supply tent lighting, cooling equipment and a blower used to erect an inflatable tent. The prefecture says the alloy tanks allow hydrogen to be stored and transported at low pressure. The exercise will examine practical issues in supplying hydrogen, including costs, technology and regulations; it is a planned demonstration, not a completed deployment.
