Gunma Prefecture has published five locations for Pokemon-themed manhole covers, linking the designs with local landmarks. The locations are in Numata, Tatebayashi, Shibukawa, Shimonita and Naganohara.
The list includes the entrance to the Fukiware Falls walking path in Numata, the front of the Tsutsujigaoka Fureai Center in Tatebayashi, and Hototogisu Station on Shibukawa’s Ikaho Ropeway. The other two locations are the coconita station-front exchange facility in Shimonita and the Yamba Furusato-kan roadside station in Naganohara.
The prefecture describes Pokefuta as individually designed covers intended to introduce both Pokemon and local attractions. Its page also provides a touring-map link. The notice does not give a separate installation date for each cover, so the listed locations should not be read as proof of the date each became available to view.
Local perspective
For a Pokemon fan, these locations offer a way to attach a small design-focused stop to a broader visit: the list connects covers with a waterfall approach, a ropeway station and public visitor facilities. The appeal lies in that relationship to existing destinations, rather than an assumption that collecting five stops produces tourism growth. A practical itinerary still needs current installation and access checks; the prefecture’s list is not a single-day route guarantee.
