Nagano Prefecture announced on October 29 that Ginza NAGANO in Tokyo will host a Tomi-focused food event on November 21. Two identical sessions run 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 2:30–3:30 p.m., each with fifteen first-come places. The fee is 2,000 yen per person, payable by credit card when booking through the official website.
The programme combines walnut cracking with introductions to local wine and cheese, plus a planned screening of Tomi’s award-winning municipal commercial. Locally made grape juice is available for those not drinking alcohol. The notice cautions people with food allergies because walnuts are used. The venue is the second-floor event space.
Local perspective
Handling a whole walnut offers a different encounter with an agricultural product from simply seeing it on a shop shelf. Combining that activity with a municipal film puts production and place in the same conversation. The organisers’ hope for later visits or migration remains an aim, not a measured outcome.
