Around 500 people are expected to take part in a river and roadside cleanup upstream of Ishitegawa Dam on November 1, according to Matsuyama. The city announced plans for the 25th cleanup in an October 22 notice.

Activities are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, with cancellation in the event of rain. An opening gathering at Ichinoide Water Treatment Plant precedes cleanup work along the Ishitegawa from 9:20 a.m., including areas around Seseragi, Yugafuchi and Kutsurogi parks.

The cleanup is intended to protect the dam’s water quality by removing rubbish from rivers and roads in the upstream catchment. The planned participants include local residents, 21 groups, national and prefectural personnel, and city staff. The announcement describes an organised volunteer operation; it does not provide a public registration process. The stated total is an approximate plan, rather than a count of completed participation.
