JR East Aomori Commercial Development announced on October 28 that a bento event with Aonabi will run November 1 and 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sales are planned in Hakkoda Maru’s entrance lobby and on the first floor of Aomori Station’s public passage. There will be no sale on November 2, and supplies may run out before closing.
Around fifteen varieties from across Japan are planned, alongside a limited Aomori sujiko rice box priced at 1,850 yen including tax. The latter uses Aomori-grown Masshigura rice. Use of the station passage forms part of a city-led experiment in how the space can be used.
Local perspective
A sale in a public passage tests how food can create a reason to pause in a transport space, while the museum-ship venue offers another setting nearby. The local rice box adds a regional ingredient link. Whether this produces lasting station-area business benefits requires evidence beyond two sales days.
