Hokkaido’s October 22 notice lists an open-call exhibition for artists with disabilities who create work in the prefecture. The announced run is October 29–November 1 in exhibition rooms two and three of Sapporo Citizens Gallery. Hours are 10 a.m.–6 p.m., except the final day, which ends at 4 p.m.

Welfare and Arts Hokkaido, the prefecture’s disability arts support centre, organises the exhibition. The prefecture says it established the centre in fiscal 2024 and wants to secure opportunities to present creative work. The notice does not state an admission price or visitor numbers. Photographs in the release are identified as images from last year.

Local perspective

A civic gallery gives this work a public cultural setting, rather than restricting attention to support services alone. The final-day closing time also matters for anyone adding it to a Sapporo visit. Neither the venue nor the stated purpose proves a change in public understanding.
