Nine Saga businesses will sell local foods at a shared booth during the Saga International Balloon Fiesta from October 30 to November 3. The Saga Industrial Promotion Organization announced the plan on October 23. The booth is in the Umakamon market at the Kase River festival grounds.
Products include fruit, honey, rice-flour sweets and processed foods. Booth hours are 7:30 a.m.–5 p.m. on October 30–November 1, extending to 8 p.m. on November 2–3. The prefectural-products support body behind the booth was set up within the foundation in April 2017 to help promote local products. The release does not provide a forecast of sales.
Local perspective
A shared booth gives small food businesses a common point of contact with people already visiting the balloon grounds. That is a concrete sales channel, rather than proof that the festival will increase their income. For visitors, the range of honey, fruit and rice-flour products offers a focused introduction to several local producers without presenting the booth as the whole of Saga’s food culture.
佐賀の9事業者、バルーンフェスタ会場で県産食品を販売へ
佐賀県産業振興機構は10月23日、10月30日～11月3日の佐賀インターナショナルバルーンフェスタで、県内9事業者が県産食品を販売すると発表した。嘉瀬川河川敷の「うまかもん市場」内にあるデザイン公社ブースで、果物、はちみつ、米粉菓子、加工食品などを扱う。営業は10月30日～11月1日が7時30分～17時、11月2・3日が同20時まで。県産品の販促支援を担う公社は2017年4月に機構内に設立された。売上予測は示されていない。

共同ブースは、気球会場を訪れる人と小規模な食品事業者が接する販売経路になる。これは具体的な販路の設計であり、祭りで所得が増えることを示す実績ではない。旅行者には、はちみつ、果物、米粉製品を通して複数の地元の作り手を知る入口となるが、この一角だけで佐賀の食文化全体を代表するわけではない。
