Tochigi is taking applications until November 11 for a free seminar on November 17 to launch a research group connecting horticultural producers with smart-farming businesses. The event has 100 places, allocated in order of application, and runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at the prefectural cultural centre’s first meeting room in Utsunomiya.

The programme includes a keynote on recent research into profitable production of greenhouse vegetables, presentations by four participating companies and information from the organisers. It is aimed at growers, relevant businesses, agricultural organisations and associated institutions. Applications can be made through the linked form, by email or by fax.

The research group is intended to connect growers and companies in developing, improving and putting smart-agriculture equipment into practical use. The prefecture describes higher productivity, labour saving and lower costs as the goals of that cooperation.
