Matsuyama will accept applications from November 2 to 30, 2026, for its third round of grants to demolish deteriorated, dangerous vacant houses. The round has a budget of 20 million yen.
The scheme is intended to encourage removal of homes at risk of collapse and improve neighbourhood living conditions. Eligible applicants include owners of qualifying houses in the city and their legal heirs, subject to the programme’s requirements.
Support covers four-fifths of demolition costs, capped at 1 million yen, or 1.6 million yen in island areas. If applications exceed the available budget, properties with more severe structural deterioration or damage receive priority. Applications are handled by the city hall housing division on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
