Nara Prefecture has announced a December 19 science event featuring JAXA astronaut Ayu Yoneda at the Nara Prefectural Institute for Educational Research in Tawaramoto.
The programme runs from 1 to 4:30 p.m. The lecture has 300 on-site places and 500 places for a live online stream, allocated in order of application. Participation is for people in fourth grade or above who live, study or work in Nara Prefecture; elementary and junior-high pupils must be accompanied by a guardian.
The programme combines an astronaut’s lecture with hands-on observation, experiments and making activities. After the lecture, the science activities run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. A laboratory programme requires a separate advance application and is limited to 70 elementary-school pupils attending the first part; other science corners do not require advance registration. The institute’s programme gives the detailed application conditions.
