Osaka Central Public Hall will host an exterior projection show from December 11 to 25, producer HITOHATA announced on October 26. Viewing is free and requires no advance application. Images will be projected onto the building’s east-facing front as part of OSAKA Hikari-Renaissance.

The planned evening window is 5:30–9:30 p.m., with an approximately ten-minute show every twelve minutes and a final start at 9:20 p.m. The hall is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property with neo-Renaissance architecture, according to the producer. Rain alone will not stop projection, but severe weather can interrupt or cancel it.

Local perspective

Using the hall’s facade makes the building itself part of the visual experience, rather than simply a venue address. For visitors interested in Japanese cities’ architectural layers, an exterior show offers a different encounter from an interior tour. Free viewing does not imply access inside the hall, and the producer’s announcement does not establish additional tourism revenue.
