Building professionals and local officials can apply through November 9 for Yamagata’s training on lower-cost earthquake reinforcement of wooden homes. Sessions will be held at Yonezawa city hall on November 24, 2026, and Yamagata Civic Hall on November 25, both from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The course responds to a prefectural survey in which high costs were the leading reason respondents gave for not proceeding with reinforcement after a seismic assessment. It covers design and construction examples, calculations and group exercises. Places are allocated in application order, with 50 available in Yonezawa and 100 in Yamagata. Participants pay 5,000 yen in cash on the day for the textbook. Applications opened October 21 through the prefecture’s electronic application service.

山形県は木造住宅の低コスト耐震改修の実務者向け講習を2026年11月24日に米沢市役所、25日に山形市民会館で開催する。両日9時30分～16時30分。耐震改修事業者や行政職員が対象で、定員は米沢50人、山形100人、先着順。申込は10月21日～11月9日、テキスト代5,000円を当日現金で支払う。耐震診断後も改修しない最大の理由が高額な費用だったという調査結果を背景に行う。
