Gunma Prefecture updated its public bus-data directory on October 26 to add information on Juo Bus’s GTFS real-time support. The announcement concerns the directory’s information, rather than a new bus route or timetable.
The directory brings together links to operators’ and municipalities’ open transport data in GTFS-JP format. Its Juo Bus entry links to the Public Transportation Open Data Center and lists VehiclePosition, TripUpdates and Alert links under real-time data.
Gunma cautions that each provider’s licence and terms govern use of its data. The directory therefore offers a starting point for checking available information; its update alone does not establish what a particular passenger app displays or guarantee live information for every journey.
Local perspective
For local transport services, a directory can make the first step of finding data more transparent, but discovery and delivery are different stages. The operator links and provider-specific terms mean a developer still needs to check coverage and permitted use before building a traveller-facing tool. That distinction matters more than treating a new directory entry as proof that passengers already receive a better service; the release supplies no such outcome measurement.
