University staff, businesses and local organisations in Aichi can apply for a free conference on November 30 aimed at building links around project-based learning. The event runs from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., with doors opening at 1 p.m., at Meijo University’s shake collaboration space on its Nagoya Dome campus.
The prefecture is accepting advance applications through an online form until November 26. There are 100 places, allocated in order of application. The programme includes a lecture by Kyoto Sangyo University professor Masanori Nakatani, discussions of practical projects at four parallel tables and a matching session for universities, companies and other participants.
PBL stands for project-based or problem-based learning: students work together on challenges set by businesses or other organisations. Aichi says it is promoting this approach to strengthen universities’ appeal and attract talent to the prefecture. The conference is intended to share experience and help participants develop new collaborations.
