Imabari is asking residents to check evacuation information through more than one channel after receiving notice of a temporary interruption to SoftBank’s emergency-alert service. The city’s October 23 announcement gives October 26 as the planned end of the maintenance period. It does not confirm that service has already resumed.
The city lists disaster-prevention loudspeakers, emergency notification radios, its official LINE account and its website as ways it distributes evacuation information. These provide alternatives when a mobile-phone alert service is unavailable.
The announcement discusses possible Level 3 evacuation guidance for older people and others needing extra time, and Level 4 evacuation instructions, if conditions such as a typhoon require them. It is an explanation of information channels, rather than an announcement that either level is currently in force. The city also asks residents to check notices from their own mobile carrier.
