Takamatsu residents can join district cooking classes from mid-October through the end of February 2027, with a participation fee of 500 yen. Recruitment takes place through local community centres and other district venues.
The new balanced-meal course uses kombu stock across a menu of rice, pork with ginger sauce, a vinegared side dish, clear soup and a dish made from the stock’s kelp. The course introduces the meal structure of a staple, a main dish and side dishes rather than focusing on one ingredient alone.
The city’s food-improvement volunteers, known as Health Mates, run the classes as a city-commissioned programme intended to help residents review their eating habits and enjoy cooking and eating together. The notice warns that the ingredients include allergens.
The published schedule lists Ritsurin on October 28, Tsukiji on October 29 and Kawashima on October 30, followed by sessions in other districts. Dates and venues vary, and the list covers only part of the programme. Residents should check arrangements with their district community centre or the programme’s secretariat.
