Otaru City Library will host a free public lecture on lung-cancer screening on November 19, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The event has 30 places and will take place in the second-floor audiovisual room at the library in Hanazono.
The programme brings together the municipal hospital, public-health office and library, with speakers covering different parts of the subject. A public-health nurse will discuss cancer trends, lung-cancer risk factors and prevention; a hospital thoracic surgeon will speak about screening, early detection and treatment. Library staff will introduce related books.
