Aomori will hold its 24th prefectural vocational skills competition for people with disabilities over two days, October 28 and November 3, according to an October 22 announcement.
On October 28, computer data entry, office assistance and photography competitions are scheduled at Polytechnic Center Aomori from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cafe service competitions will take place separately at Hotel Aomori from 9:40 to 11 a.m.
The November 3 programme at Polytechnic Center Aomori runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes building cleaning, word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing and photography.
The prefecture says it has held the competition since fiscal 2003 to help participants develop skills acquired at work, deepen public understanding of disability and promote employment. Aomori Prefecture and the Aomori branch of the Japan Organization for Employment of the Elderly, Persons with Disabilities and Job Seekers are the organisers.

青森県は10月22日、第24回青森県障がい者技能競技大会「あおもりアビリンピック2026」を10月28日と11月3日に開くと発表した。10月28日はポリテクセンター青森で午前10時～午後1時にパソコンデータ入力、オフィスアシスタント、写真撮影の競技を、ホテル青森で午前9時40分～11時に喫茶サービス競技を行う。11月3日はポリテクセンター青森で午前10時～午後1時、ビルクリーニング、ワードプロセッサ、表計算、DTP、写真撮影を予定する。県によると、職場などで培った技能の向上、障がいへの社会の理解、雇用促進などを目的に2003年度から開催している。県と高齢・障害・求職者雇用支援機構青森支部が主催する。
